Mother Sue of Christ Episcopal Church

The Good News of God in Christ!!! Wow, what powerful words for us to hear. The Good News. The Good News is that once we were outside and now we have come within the saving embrace of Christ. We have been given the most powerful message ever known and we are so blessed to be called upon to invite others to that same knowledge. Exciting times we live in.

As I think of Peter’s first converts and the Good News they were hearing and imagine what it might look like to see 3000 people being baptized in one day the energy must have electrified the air that day. The people had to be so excited to hear that they were so loved, the text says; ‘they were cut to the heart’. It meant something to them, this Good News. Then we are told they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

That is where the energy and excitement is here at Christ Church. We too are excited about the Good News. There are so many exciting things happening here right now and the energy is electrifying. Our programming year is off to a good start. We have a very committed and active group who are now, “Companions in Christ’ and meet faithfully each week to learn more about their spiritual journeys and to share in the blessings they have been given throughout the week. We have an active Wonderful Wednesday program happening. We have just begun our journey through ‘The Artists Way’ and have welcomed numerous people from the community to our group—very exciting. We have created space in our parish hall to accommodate both the Artists Way and our Praise and Worship singing on Wednesday evenings.

We are just about to begin our Newcomers Ministry with many signing up to be ‘Newcomer Ambassadors’. We have some new faces serving on committees. We have a ministry to developmentally disabled youth in our Sunday School program. We are reviving our choir and praying for some new faces to step forward and praise God in song. Our 9:00 am worship time is changing to 10:00 so we can accommodate a time of Christian Education and fellowship between services and also allow time for the choir to practice. This Sunday we will hold our monthly Contemporary Worship service, one that has been modified and expanded. Oh Yes, there is Good News at Christ Church…

The Holy Spirit is working overtime here and it is exciting.

We are the first church to sign on with Habitat for Humanity to be a part of an Apostles build. A project where 12 churches will come together to build a home for a family who otherwise would not be able to be homeowners. For a family who might not otherwise be given the opportunity to have that sense of value and worth that comes with having your own home. Yes, we will be a part of that wonderful ministry… We even get to decide on which Apostle we want to be names as—so put on your thinking caps and pray for God’s direction as to which Apostle might best describe our church.

The mission field is still in great need and we are just beginning to lay a new foundation for our continued journey. I hope you are on board and will support our work in the name of Jesus with your Time, Talent and Treasure.

After those first converts became devoted we are told that; “Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles.” I can’t wait to stand in AWE of the Holy Spirit’s work here at Christ Church through you apostles…
